** Fresh Air. I feel deprivation of fresh air whenever I am home in Cavite City. I have been breathing the same old air over and over again from 20 years ago since I moved here. My MIL seems to have amathophobia (fear of dust) that she doesn’t want to open the house windows, even if it causes your shirt to be soaked (literally) with sweat. (I know… yucky... but true) She doesn’t feel any guilt at all when she sees Ed and I so irritated, and annoyed with the 34-degree celsius air in the house. I had to be honest with how I feel… I never smiled since the aircon broke down on Sunday – apparently the fan motor just stopped working. She had to inject jokes such as “hindi pa man din mahal na araw nagpepenitensya na tayo…” or “hay, sa sobrang init pati ang kasangkapan nagkakasakit na din.” I never felt like reacting at all, and in fact, I never did! I don’t care whatever she thinks. I have been keeping my feelings to myself for so long a time now, not to mention how annoyed I get when she fixes the bed the second time around as soon as we leave the house. My mind goes, “eh alam mo palang mainit bakit ayaw mo pa rin buksan ang bintana!” or “leche, sino ba nagsabing magtiis tayo sa nakasarang bintana.” I don’t mind not having an aircon in the house… but fresh air – this matters!
** Breakfast drink. So I already said earlier that it is indeed very warm in that house. And here goes the GIL (grandma in law) now insisting that I take a cup of Swiss Miss chocolate drink for breakfast. Eh ayoko nga… kasi mainit. She eagerly took the box from the food storage and gave me one sachet. Politely, I said, “Thank you po pero ayoko pong uminom ng mainit ngayon kasi po mainit sa pakiramdam.” She goes, “Bakit naman ayaw mo?” Eh diba kasasabi ko lang? =) And guess how many times I have been into this kind of conversation… countless! Yes, truly… d ko na mabilang kung ilang beses kami nagkakausap ng ganito. At the end of breakfast though, I still end up just drinking cold water. :P
** Morning sickness. Not only pregnant women experience morning sickness. I have my own definition of it now – it is something you hate in the morning, but keeps on happening anyway. Okay – the breakfast drink issue could count as one morning sickness but I have discovered one more. It is the daily tardiness of my colleague, no matter how super super important it is that he comes to work on time. Haaay… kung nag-aaral pa lang ito at sa SLU-LES siya napadpad, baka may isang filing cabinet na ang principal’s office for his records. Is there a cure for such illness?
